The micropores adsorb and immobilize microorganisms, containing hydrophilic active groups such as amino, carboxyl, and epoxy groups. The filler can quickly absorb water and expand to sink, simultaneously rapidly adsorbing and immobilizing microorganisms and enzymes.

The density of the immobilized microorganism packing material is greater than that of water, causing it to settle rapidly in water. This results in a high microbial loading capacity, large volumetric loading, and a large specific surface area. Due to its structural characteristics, the packing material allows for the mixing and exchange of wastewater, air, and biofilm. Large quantities of microorganisms can quickly establish themselves within the microbial carrier, maintaining good activity and variability in porosity.
